Lanzarote

I’ve only ever been abroad once and that was in the 90’s when I was a teenager.  I went to Cyprus with two friends and it was great.  Since then I’ve spent my life as a carer or trying to build this dog walking business of mine so have never had any money.  But now that I’ve been dog walking a few years and doing pretty well, I thought, “I need to go somewhere hot and sunny this winter!”.  I decided to go just by myself.  There’s something empowering about going on your own, you have to think and look after yourself and that is a good thing.  It’s easy to let others take charge and lead, do all the thinking, but I felt I needed a break and also learn to be a bit more self reliant.  Plus as a dog walker I prefer my own company ?.

So after 50 weeks of working non stop I left on the 17th December to Lanzarote, getting back on Christmas eve.  I don’t see the point of going away in the summer.  As a dog walker it’s the short winter grey days I get fed up with especially the rain that lasts all day, so for me it’s the perfect time to get away and get some sun.  Plus with most clients off over the Christmas period it just makes sense to get away now.

After a 4 hour flight I got off the plane and was hit with a wave of heat – it was summer.  The sun was high in the sky, everything was very bright, lovely and warm.  I can hardly believe it’s just a 4 hour flight away.

We all have our ideal holiday and mine is quite boring.  I like to lie and sit in the sun with a good strong drink and my kindle.  After breaky I like a big long walk and basically do nothing but work on my tan, refrain from getting too drunk, too fat and really enjoy doing nothing for seven days.  Plus I chose all inclusive and the food was just amazing.

Loved it and I really reccomend winter holidays and Lanzarote.
