A homemade travel sickness rememdy for dogs

Add ginger to biscuits and you can make a delicious dog treat.  Ginger has been known for a long time to be very effective in combating motion sickness in dogs as well as people.  These biscuits are easy to make and dogs think they are very tasty whether they're traveling or not!  Because we are making gingerbread men, I'm using a gingerbread man biscuit cutter, you can buy here if you need one.

How to store

As a general guide if meat protein is present in recipe then it will last around 3 to 5 days stored in a cool place.  If it has second class protein in it eg. cheese, lentils, eggs, etc, then they will store for about 10 days in a cool place. If there is no meat or second class proteins present then it will last around 3 weeks before they go soft like human biscuits.

  1. Just took a batch of these out of the oven. They look lovely. Will let you know what my doggos think later.

  2. I love these lovely biscuits for my five dogs and they definitely love them ?????

    • Aww thanks Sharon, glad your dogs like them!

  3. Can I freeze the ginger bread men ?

  4. My dog was not keen, wouldn’t eat them.

  5. just found your recipes loads to try am going to make various biscuits to help raise money for a dog rescue, can you substitute the self raising flour for wholemeal flour ?

    • Yeah any flour is fine. Hope it goes well.

  6. Only just found you but have made these twice now and my dog adores them. So do I – they’re so easy to do – and I know exactly what’s in them rather than shop bought ‘lottery’ treats. This time as I made them she was laying by my feet – I think she knew!
    Thanks for sharing the recipe.

    • Thanks Marie, that’s very kind of you to comment. Glad your dog likes them too. Try the sardine oatcakes if you haven’t already. A personal fave of mine. 🙂

  7. Hi Jamie,

I have just made a batch of these for Kobi our Cockapoo and he loves them. They are simplicity in themselves to make, thanks for sharing it ? ? Howard & Kobi

    • Thanks Howard. Glad Kobi loves them. Hope you both have a great Christmas!

  8. Our dog loved these, thanks for the great recipe 🙂

    • Thanks Linzi. That’s very kind of you to say. It’s one of my faves too but gets overlooked somewhat for the other recipes.

  9. Cinnamon is bad for dogs, it needs to be Ceylon cinnamon in dog food.

    • Cinnamon is fine for dogs…it’s nutmeg that isn’t good for them.
