Knockmountain – Langbank to Kilmacolm

How to get to Knockmountain

The start point is the lay-by on Gallahill Road in Langbank,  to the North of Knockmountain.  There's also parking on the Kilmacolm side but all the views are on the Langbank side plus it's quieter too!

Once you park, make your way south through a gate, where you instantly are met with amazing views down the River Clyde, there are many routes to follow, from a short loop walk to a very long walk that will take you to Kilmacolm.  The cairn (the highest point) is located less than 10 minutes walk from the lay-by in Langbank and has a picnic table.

Knockmountain is a fantastic place to walk and ideal for those with dogs. It's enormous, dog-friendly, and secure with gates and fencing. Once you become familiar with it, you will learn all the many different routes it has.  Even in the height of summer it's quiet just because of how large it is, it's probably the best place to walk dogs in Renfrewshire and when everywhere else is packed out in the summer months, this place is always quiet, it's truly a gift.

You're just found your new favourite dog walk!

    • Oh cool, glad you liked it Mandy. It’s a lovely place and it’s huge. Loads of different trails takes quite a few walks to get familiar with them all but its a great place.
