Morning walk at the River Gryfe

Early Start for Blue, Diva and Fudge

With temperatures set to soar again today, we were out extra early—6:30am at the River Gryfe in Houston. It was the only sensible time to walk Blue, Diva and Fudge, all 13 years old and from the same home.

Blue is a Malamute, Diva an Akita, and Fudge a Cockapoo. They're a lovely, calm trio, but Blue and Diva really struggle in the heat, so these early starts are essential. I've been walking them twice a day since Friday—this was our fifth walk, with one more to go this evening around 8pm when it starts to cool down again.

This morning was slow and gentle—Diva has issues with her front legs, and Blue with his back legs, so we took our time along the riverside, sticking to the cool, soft grass. There were a couple of spots where the river was shallow enough for them to wade in and cool off.

It was already a beautiful day, with the sun warming up as we walked. By the time we finished at 7am, you could feel the temperature starting to rise.

Here are some photos from the walk...
